Youth

We want you to be a part of MDPC Youth! We have a lot of fun together, but most importantly, we grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ. In addition to worshiping and studying the Bible together, our youth group participates in a ton of events like service projects, mission trips, retreats, fellowship, and much more.

CONNECTION is our Sunday program for Middle and High School students where we come together for fellowship, teaching, and worship.

Middle and High School meet separately. All ages, come to the Youth Loft upstairs in the CLC at 11:15am. Middle school meets in The Backyard (Room 261) and high school meets in The Living Room (Room 265).

Confirmation

Confirmation is available to 9th to 12th grade students who are prepared to declare their faith in Jesus and join MDPC as members. It is a chance for students to understand the basic beliefs of the Christian faith, engage in discussions, ask questions, and develop as disciples of Jesus.

The next confirmation class will take place in September 2025. Registration will be open in April 2025.

Summer Mission Trips

Our summer mission trips allow students to understand the meaning of service in various communities while sharing the love of Jesus and strengthening their relationship with Him.

San Antonio (June 1-6)
Current 7 and 8 graders will work with Blueprint Ministries to help replace roofs on homes across San Antonio. Blueprint ministries strive to help lower-income families and disabled and elderly homeowners stay in their homes longer. Students will play an active part in helping those who need it most (and learning how to work some power tools while at it!)
Current 10, 11, and 12 graders are invited to apply to be a SATX High School Leader. Please complete this application by January 26 to be considered.

Appalachia (June 15-20)
Current high schoolers (9-12 grade) will partner with the Appalachia Service Project to spend a week working on hurricane relief and the disaster recovery effort that is taking place in the Appalachia region. Hurricane relief hits close to home for us Houstonians and we feel a deep call to help a community that will be recovering for years to come. We will be serving in either North Carolina or Tennessee. The exact location will be announced in early February.

Waco (June 26-29)
Current 5 and 6 graders will team up with Mission Waco to lead a street camp in the morning and serve the community with work projects in the afternoon. Part of serving with Mission Waco includes the opportunity for students to learn more about poverty, what contributes to it, and how they can help.

Uganda (July 22-31)
Current 11 and 12 graders will take the journey over to Uganda, Africa, to work with the Lulwanda Children's Home, spending time with the kids, doing crafts, and helping with projects around the children's home to help keep it safe and functional. We'll also be spending time in the community through some of the ongoing outreach programs associated with Lulwanda Children's Home.

This trip is application-based, and participants will be selected based on their fulfillment of the required criteria.

Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in serving with the MDPC Youth group! We are so appreciative of your time and commitment. Please read the different descriptions of volunteer and leader opportunities. When you have decided which one fits you best, fill the application form out below the opportunity description. If you are interested in applying for multiple opportunities, email Megan Hulings ( ) so she can send you the appropriate form.

Hospitality Team Volunteer

Hospitality for MDPC Youth means providing a welcoming space for students when they come to our programs! Donuts, check-in tables, and decorating for events are just some of the things our hospitality team does for our students! Behind the scenes but making the first impression, our hospitality team needs people who are creative, friendly, and willing to pick up donuts!

Application & Release
Trip Leader (Retreat or Mission Trip)

MDPC Youth goes on several trips throughout the year, and they range from weekend retreats to weeklong mission trips. Trip leaders are asked to commit to attending the entire trip. We ask that they be flexible as sometimes the flow of the trip changes, and able to support the goal of the retreat/trip. Trip leaders are asked to be comfortable leading small-group time (with resources provided) and to be willing to lead by word and example.

Connection Leader

Sunday mornings are busy! Our Connection leaders help our staff manage the chaos by interacting with students, playing games, and helping students focus when it’s time for the message! Our Connection leaders make a commitment to attending Connection once or twice a month! We ask these volunteers to be comfortable initiating conversations, participating in games, and encouraging students to focus when the time comes.

Life Group Leader

Life groups are a safe space for students to explore and grow in their faith through discussion and reading scripture. Life group leaders are a vital part of that process by providing a safe and helpful sounding board, offering wise and sound input, asking questions, and encouraging students as they make their faith their own. We ask our life group leaders to commit to leading for at least one year (although we hope they’ll stay on for longer) and to showing up every week as well as dropping in on one or two additional MDPC Youth Ministry events to help build their relationships with their group!

Summer 2025 Interns

The Youth Summer Intern Program runs from May 18 - August 3, 2025.

Each summer, the MDPC Youth ministry hires 4 summer interns to work alongside our middle and high school students and to learn more about what it's like to work in ministry. Having our interns is a major part of our summer program and our students look forward to spending time with them.

The two main purposes of the MDPC Youth Summer Intern Program are:
1. To provide an opportunity for learning and training for future ministry.
2. To encourage middle school and high school students to trust Jesus as their Lord and Savior and to become involved in the life, worship, and mission of Christ's church.
