Conquerers. Not Captives.
In this lecture, Dr. Dodson will challenge the popular view that Romans 7:14–25 is meant to describe the typical Christian battle against sin. While many believers consider the inner conflict and turmoil of the “wretched man” in Romans 7 all too relatable, Paul actually uses Romans 7 to proclaim that we are not impotent before sin and powerless to do good. When we reexamine Romans 7 in light of the immediate context, Paul’s writings elsewhere, and his interpreters throughout church history, we encounter this much better news, which invites us to take seriously the Bible’s assurances that even though sin remains in our lives, it no longer reigns over them.
